The switch-up from activewear to shapewear as everyday attire has me thinking…
Is it the fabric that’s holding me together…
Or have we simply grown lazy with our clothes?
And of course — this isn’t about clothes.
It never is…
Somewhere Between Compression and Collapse
We used to live in leggings.
We called it “comfort.”
“Ease.”
A pandemic uniform we never fully outgrew.
But now it’s corsets, control tops, body contour this and that.
We’ve swapped soft stretch for structure.
We cinch, we snatch, we sculpt.
And not just our bodies — but our selves.
Shapewear isn’t the villain.
It’s the metaphor.
